Welcome to band class! In this class you will learn how to read music, how to play an instrument, and how to talk intelligently about music. You and your friends will play music together every time class meets, and you will get to play music from all over the world. You will play music that is new and modern and music that is hundreds of years old!
Anybody can learn to play a band instrument if they put in the time and effort, so don't worry if you think you are not good at music. The first step is choosing an instrument. All the band instruments are fun to play, and they all have different roles in the band. Keep an open mind when thinking about what instrument you would like to play. In order to learn more about the instruments I highly recommend that students and parents view the ASA Band Instrument Selection Guide found below.
